The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has extended the timeline for completion of RM 2871 improvements. The project, originally scheduled to be complete by the end of December, will likely take a few weeks longer because of an unanticipated number of rain days, as well as a storm drain issue discovered during construction.
Beginning next Monday (12/01), TxDOT plans to close the intersection of Jerry Dunn Parkway to reconstruct the storm drain system. The work may take as little as three days, and possibly a week to complete. No access will be available to or from RM 2871 via Jerry Dunn Parkway. Traffic will be detoured to Rolling Hills Drive, on the west side of RM 2871.
In a couple weeks, TxDOT will asphalt the northbound east side of the roadway from Benbrook Boulevard/US 377 to Stoneleigh Drive. For late December, plans include pavement repair north of the Stoneleigh Drive area to Aledo Road. Finally, the entire project area, from Aledo Road to Benbrook Boulevard/US 377, will be overlayed with a surface course of asphalt, with project completion expected in January 2015.
Thank you for your patience during this time of construction, and please drive safely.
