The City of Benbrook launched a new website on April 29, 2013. The website is a brand new, complete overhaul of the former site, and is intended to provide a high performing, more user-friendly forum for users. As part of the City’s strategic plan, and in alignment with the recent community marketing study, the City of Benbrook is working with a new website design team/host, Civic Plus.
The emphasis in design is on citizen-focused content, social media integration, and ease of use.
“Our goal and challenge in designing the site has always been to look at the website from our users perspective.” says Benbrook IT Director, Phyllis Wolfe, “We’ve spent a good deal of time researching what users want most from a municipal website, how to consolidate a large amount of information, and how to present it in a forum that is easy and quick to access.”
Features of the website that are intended to improve navigation include an “I Want To’ tab that leads the user to a vast amount of information in a simple format, helping users bypass traditional searches and/or time spent sifting through irrelevant pages.
Also, the look of the website emphasizes Benbrook people, places, and events. A slideshow on the homepage depicts residents and visitors enjoying local events and the natural and recreational amenities that make Benbrook great!
