Outdoor Sirens Today – Wednesday, May 3, 2017
The City of Benbrook executes outdoor sirens for a variety of reasons, to include weather conditions and other emergency situations such as fires or chemical spills. It’s important to note that most communities, including Benbrook, sound the siren as a test on the first Wednesday of each month around 1:00 pm.
The purpose of outdoor warning sirens is to alert folks that are outdoors to seek shelter, and then to check news sources to determine the nature of the warning.
PLEASE NOTE: Because of weather conditions today, and because today is the typical testing day, the Benbrook Fire Department plans to conduct a silent siren test, so as not to confuse the public. Please note: If you hear an actual siren today, please treat is as an emergency siren condition and act appropriately as outlined above.
