On July 11, Mayor Jerry Dittrich officiated the first 'Hometown Pride' event at Chicken Express, 9005 Benbrook Boulevard. Jack and Amy Durfey and family, the current operators, were presented with a building plaque recognizing Chicken Express for 30 years in business here. Benbrook Chicken Express was opened in 1988 by Richard and Nancy Stuart, who were also in attendance.
The public was invited to join in the celebration, and many folks stayed to enjoy a discounted lunch special.
The 'Hometown Pride' program is a joint effort of the City of Benbrook, the Benbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Benbrook Economic Development Corporation to recognize and celebrate businesses that have steadfastly served our community and remained in operation for 20 years of more. Our goal is to celebrate these businesses with a public gathering to include door prizes and light refreshments, and presentation of a unique plaque to be placed on the outside of the business.
Thank you to all that attended! Stay tuned for future 'Hometown Pride' events!
