Benbrook
Economic Development Corporation Closes Braum’s Deal
Last week, the Benbrook Economic Development Corporation
(BEDC) completed a real estate closing on property located at 8909 Benbrook
Boulevard; the old mini-storage site. The BEDC board of directors and Benbrook
City Council approved the sale to Retail Buildings, Inc. in July of this year.
As part of the contract for sale, Retail Buildings, Inc. agreed to construct
and operate a new Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store with Fresh Market on the site.
The buyer completed their inspection and due diligence on the property, and
closed on the site last Friday, November 16.
Braum’s was specifically pursued as BEDC understood that many citizens desired
their return to Benbrook, and because the Fresh Market component supplements
current grocery options in our community. BEDC conducted an environmental
assessment on the property, negotiated the purchase, demolished the old metal
structures, and negotiated a satisfactory sale to Retail Buildings. The new
site offers prime Benbrook Boulevard frontage, accessibility, and room to
construct the drive-through service required of Braum’s to meet the needs of
their customers.
Construction of the new store is projected to begin summer 2019.
