[ARCHIVED] Benbrook Winter Wonderland will be Saturday, Dec. 7

You’d Better Watch Out: St. Nick, a tree lighting and a fireworks show ALL are comin’ to town.

The weekend of December 7, Dutch Branch Park will once again be filled with holiday spirit. Our annual "Winter Wonderland" kicks off Friday night as Santa and Mrs. Claus make an appearance for photos with the kids. They will be at the Benbrook Community Center/YMCA, 1899 Winscott Road, from 6 to 9 p.m. Photos are $5 and free refreshments will be served.

Things really get going Saturday night, December 7, as the city holds its 27th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Fireworks Show. The fireworks show will begin at 7, and afterward, Santa and Mrs. Claus will make another appearance to help light the tree, riding in on a City of Benbrook fire truck.

After the tree lighting, visitors can enjoy a new feature of the Winter Wonderland, a row of trees with lights that will “dance” to holiday music.

Admission to the family-friendly event is free. Hot cocoa, popcorn and glow items will be for sale. Both nights, the Fire Department will be accepting donations of canned goods and money; donations also can be made through December 19 at the Benbrook Fire Department, 528 Mercedes St.

Winter Wonderland is free and open to the public. The trees will be lit up every evening through the New Year. For more information, please call 817-249-6087. Bring your family and friends to help Benbrook kick off the holidays in style – and you’d better not pout!
