The virus that causes 2019 Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is easily transmitted through person-to-person contact, especially in group settings, and it is essential that the spread of the virus be slowed to protect the ability of public and private health care providers to handle the influx of new patients, and to safeguard public health and safety.

On Monday, March 16, 2020,  Benbrook Mayor Jerry Dittrich issued an Order prohibiting community gatherings of 250 persons or more anywhere in the city of Benbrook, Texas. Based on recent announcements from the federal, state, and county governments, that Order has been amended.

Effective 4 p.m., March 17, 2020, community gatherings of ten (10) or more people is strongly discouraged anywhere in the City of Benbrook.

The City of Benbrook also strongly urges all individuals to cancel, reschedule, avoid or not attend any gatherings in the City that will have, or will likely have, 10 or more people, also effective 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

Please note that Tarrant County is strongly recommending that local businesses reduce their allowed occupancy by 50 percent, or no more than 125 individuals, whichever is less. These limits apply to restaurants, bars, event centers, gyms, hotel restaurants, retail stores, theaters, convenience stores, public buildings, plazas, churches, and shopping malls. The County is currently excluding grocery stores and airports from these strong recommendations, and they are asking these businesses to implement social distancing with customers or travelers to the greatest extent possible.

These guidelines are being implemented because of the risk of the rapid spread of the virus, and the need to protect the most vulnerable members of the community.
