WHERE: State Highway 183/Southwest Blvd. eastbound main lanes between Crossland and Hulen
WHEN: Friday, August 9th, 8 p.m. to Saturday, August 10th, 5 a.m. (weather permitting)
WHAT: As part of the Chisholm Trail Parkway construction, crews will be closing the SH 183/Southwest Boulevard eastbound main lanes between Crossland and Hulen overnight (weather permitting) to perform activities for a traffic switch to the new main lanes. During the overnight traffic switch, SH 183 eastbound traffic will be forced to exit at Crossland and proceed to Bryant Irvin Road. Traffic can then follow the detour signs to the Interstate 20 eastbound frontage road to access Hulen Street or enter the Interstate 20 eastbound main lanes. The entrance ramp from Bryant Irvin to the new eastbound SH 183 main lanes will also be open beginning Saturday morning.
The $117 million access improvement project at Interstate 20/SH 183 is in preparation for the future SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway. The project will construct several new bridges, access ramps and new SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage roads as well as lowering and rebuilding the SH 183 main lanes. Completion is scheduled for Summer 2013.
