Bring your electronic waste and old documents to the FREE E-waste and Shred event on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Dutch Branch Park. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon, or until the trucks are full. Please note that the line usually forms early.
The event is FREE, but proof of Benbrook residency is required; proof may include a driver’s license or utility bill.
Crews will be available to direct traffic and assist in unloading items. The event takes place in the back parking lot behind Par 3 and the Benbrook Community Center/YMCA (1899 Winscott Road). Please follow the signs along Winscott Road, turn onto Beach Road, and then proceed toward the back parking lot.
Electronic Waste Recycling
For electronic waste, generally speaking, if it can be plugged in, it can be recycled. Common electrical items that can be accepted include:
*Computers | Fax machines | Washers | Vacuums |
Refrigerators | Printers | Dryers | Microwave ovens |
Dishwashers | Telephones | Copiers | Gaming Systems |
*Computer hard drives will be destroyed by a third party.
Please note, CRT devices (older televisions and other electronics with glass tubing) and household hazardous waste are not accepted at this event.
Document Shredding
For document shredding, please limit paper volume to a reasonable household amount; large amounts of business documents will not be accepted. Paper items must be dry, and boxes of documents cannot contain other items that might clog the shredder, such as CDs, paper clips, credit cards, and other plastic materials.
