WHERE: State Highway 183/Southwest Blvd. eastbound and westbound main lanes between Bryant Irvin and Hulen Street.
WHEN: Thursday, August 15, 8 p.m. to Friday, August 16, 5 a.m. (weather permitting).
WHAT: As part of the Chisholm Trail Parkway construction, crews will be closing the SH 183/Southwest Boulevard eastbound and westbound main lanes overnight between Bryant Irvin and Hulen starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013 until 5 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 (weather permitting). The closure is needed to allow the contractor to pour concrete for the Hulen entrance ramp to westbound Interstate 20. SH 183 eastbound traffic will be forced to exit at Crossland and proceed to Bryant Irvin Road. Traffic can then follow the detour signs to the I-20 eastbound frontage road to access Hulen Street or enter the I-20 eastbound main lanes. SH 183 westbound traffic will exit from I-20 at Bryant Irvin Road and follow the detour signs.
The $117 million access improvement project at I-20/SH 183 is in preparation for the future SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway. The project will construct several new bridges, access ramps and new SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage roads as well as lowering and rebuilding the SH 183 main lanes. Completion is scheduled for Summer 2013.
