[ARCHIVED] Heavy Rain Driving Tips

Flood Awareness Week 2 2021

Texas Flood Awareness Week has begun reminding drivers to never underestimate the power of water and to take precautionary measures before driving. Below are a few helpful tips to help you drive in heavy rains:

  • Plan ahead. Although it is best to avoid heavy rain, planning ahead can help you avoid traffic, hazardous conditions, and areas prone to flooding.
  • Use your headlights. Heavy rains can decrease visibility. Make sure you have your headlights on to make yourself visible to others.
  • Drive slowly and maintain additional space between you and other vehicles at all times.
