When the school year ends, many children lose access to consistent healthy meals. Children need nutritious meals to learn, grow, and thrive — even when school is out. The Summer Meal Program provides children and teens with FREE nutritious meals throughout the summer. Participating families do not have to apply, register, or provide identification. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) funds the Summer Meal Program, and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers it in Texas.
