[ARCHIVED] Mosquito Spraying Scheduled Thursday Night

Mosquito

Benbrook, Texas – October 5, 2021

The City of Benbrook is spraying for mosquitoes within a half-mile radius of the Mont Del pond in Benbrook. The spray area is generally bounded by Bellaire Dr. to the north; I-20 to the south; Bellaire Dr. to the west; and Bounty Rd. East and Bryant Irving Blvd. to the east. The City will not spray beyond the City limits.

City crews will begin spraying at approximately 11 p.m. on Thursday evening, October 7, and conclude by 6 a.m. the following morning, October 8, weather permitting.

The spraying is in response to a positive reading of West Nile Virus in a mosquito found in one of the traps used to obtain samples for testing, as confirmed by Tarrant County Public Health.

The amount of mosquito control pesticide that is sprayed from the truck is not harmful to people or pets. However, as with any pesticide, it is a good idea to keep exposure to a minimum.

The City of Benbrook would like to remind residents of the importance of taking personal protective measures to safeguard against West Nile Virus. Residents should routinely dump standing water on their property, use repellent, and dress appropriately if outdoors, especially from dusk to dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
