Reconstruction of RM 2871 to Start Next Week

WHEN: Construction now through 2014
WHERE: From U.S. 377 to south of the Union Pacific Railroad in Benbrook

BENBROOK/SOUTHWEST TARRANT COUNTY —Beginning next week, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will start the reconstruction of Ranch-to-Market Road 2871. The roadway will be rebuilt with a new asphalt surface, improved shoulders, and the addition of turning lanes at various intersections.

During the majority of construction, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. When closures reducing traffic to one lane are necessary, flaggers will be present to direct traffic.

The 1.4-mile project was awarded to Jay Mills Contracting Inc. for $2 million and is estimated for completion in late 2014.
