For several years, the City of Benbrook has partnered with Tarrant County to maintain Benbrook streets with asphalt overlay. The program saves the City significant costs, as the County furnishes the labor and necessary equipment, while Benbrook supplies the asphalt, prepares the streets, and provides traffic control during the process.
Through an annual interlocal agreement (ILA), the City and Tarrant County Precinct #1 have successfully and affordably maintained Benbrook streets. Benbrook City Council approved the 2014 ILA at the March 20 regular meeting.
The 2014 program will overlay approximately 1.5 miles of streets with 2 inches of asphalt. The program includes several cul-de-sacs, an overlay of the Community Center (Lion’s Club) parking lot, and an extension of a hike and bike trail from the Benbrook Community Center/YMCA to Dutch Branch Park.
The program is tentatively scheduled to begin mid-April.
The 2014 streets proposed for overlay are:
Bryant Street (Cozby South - Usher Street)
Kincaid Drive (Burkett Drive - Pecan Lane)
Myrtle Springs Court
Park Center Street (Cozby South - end of the road)
Ravensway (2 bulb outs)
Sirocka Drive (VanDeman-Cul-De-Sac)
Timberline Drive (Hill Top Pass – Timbercreek Road)
Timberline Drive (Timbercreek Road- Edgewood Trail)
