Winter Weather Update Jan 2026

City of Benbrook Winter Weather Update:
To prepare for the incoming winter storm, here are some important notices and helpful tips.
Senior Citizens Center
• Benbrook Senior Citizens Center will be closed Monday, January 26.
• Conditions will be monitored to determine if the center will be open on Tuesday, January 27.
Republic Services
• Yellow Bag service will be suspended for Saturday, January 24.
• Commercial Trash services will be suspended for Saturday, January 24.
• The City of Fort Worth’s Environmental Collection Center (ECC) will be closed on Saturday, January 24, and is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, January 29.
• Republic Services will reassess conditions on Sunday to determine whether additional service adjustments are necessary. For questions regarding trash service, contact Republic Services at 817-332-7301.
City Hall
• Weather conditions will be monitored on Sunday for any potential closure.
• All emergency services will operate as normal.
• Pipe Burst Emergency - If homeowners or businesses require emergency replacement or repair during City closures due to inclement weather, contractors may complete the work and submit the required permit application to the City of Benbrook Building Inspections Department on the next business day.
Warming Center
• Conditions will be monitored daily to determine if a warming center will be opened. More information will be provided if extreme conditions arise for the community.
P’s of Winter Weather Safety
• People: Check in on anyone who may be vulnerable to winter conditions.
• Pets: Keep pets warm, dry, and indoors.
• Pipes: Be sure to open cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around pipes, let indoor faucets drip, and cover exposed pipes and outdoor spigots with insulation. Also, winterize your irrigation system’s reduced pressure zone (RPZ) backflow preventer.
• Plants: Bring plants inside or cover for frost protection.
• Pool: Properly winterize your pool by adjusting water levels, protecting plumbing, applying winter chemicals, and ensuring the cover is firmly in place. For more information, visit ndpa.org
