[ARCHIVED] Benbrook Residents Encouraged to Participate in Rain Barrel Program

The City of Fort Worth and the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) have partnered in an effort to preserve our natural resources through their Residential Rainwater Program, which makes available rainwater collection barrels for residential use. Benbrook residents are welcome to participate by purchasing low-cost, durable rain barrels to conserve water and to protect our water sources.

Made of recycled materials, these 50-gallon rain barrels allow homeowners to easily harvest rainwater from their gutter downspout to use in landscapes. The barrels cost $75.00 (normally $129.00), and will be available for pick-up at the BRIT office in Fort Worth in September 2014.

Rainwater harvesting provides water during droughts, doesn’t contain chemicals or hard minerals, improves soil, and helps save on water bills.
