Emergency Medical Services

The Benbrook Fire Department is a licensed Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider with the Texas Department of State Health Services. The EMS Division has four ambulances licensed as Mobile Intensive Care Units (M.I.C.U.), the highest level of ground transport units in the state. All ambulances are equiped with advanced life support equipment to provide the highest level of care when EMS personnel arrive at the patient’s side. All personnel are either firefighter/paramedics or firefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT).

All EMS personnel are highly trained and required to successfully complete a six-month field training program before they can practice as a primary paramedic or EMT. Each paramedic and EMT must successfully complete comprehensive protocol and skills testing while working under the direct supervision of a field training officer. Personnel also have additional cross-training in various specialties such as:

  • Extrication specialist
  • Hazardous materials technicians
  • Rescue divers
  • Rope technicians

Billing Information

The City of Benbrook is responsible for the billing and collection of services related to emergency ambulance services provided by the Fire department. The City files insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid, for ambulance billing. The Benbrook Fire Department does not offer an ambulance subscription for Emergency Medical Services. The City of Benbrook accepts Medicare and Medicaid assignment, and works with individuals to make arrangements for payment for ambulance services.
